• Aubusson

Named after the blue found in classic Aubusson rugs from France, this colour is inspired directly by the development of Prussian Blue in the late 18th Century. It’s the perfect colour for a Swedish interior.  This rich, luscious colour is used on the wall on the cover of Annie Sloan's wonderful book, Room Recipes for Style and Color, paired beautifully with an end table in Emperor's Silk.  Aubusson is shown paired with its brighter neighbor, Provence.

Also shown with an Arles chair with Dark Wax against an Aubusson wall, a trunk with Warm Gold Gilding Wax,  a bureau mixed with Provence, a table with Scandinavian Pink frottage, and a stunning bed in a jewel tone room surrounded by Amsterdam Green and Duck Egg Blue.  A Jhoola swing in Aubusson Blue is accented in Antibes Green, Provence, Barcelona Orange, Giverny and others.  A malachite-effect console table is first painted Graphite, then Aubusson Blue and Florence are blended on the top beautifully.  Midcentury Modern chairs are given a fresh look by painting the bottoms Graphite, recovering with Linen Union in French Linen + Old White, and painting Primer Red, Aubusson Blue, English Yellow and Olive as examples.
