French Linen
  • French Linen

A cool neutral inspired by the colour of aged natural linen. This khaki grey works beautifully with golds and a range of rich and bright colours such as Emile and Emperor's Silk.  At 1850 Homestead, we believe French Linen is one of those perfect colours we'd love to paint everywhere.  In our farmhouse, the main family room is French Linen with oxblood leather furniture (in the spirit of Emperor's Silk) and the adjoining guest bathroom is in Emile.  These are spaces we never want to leave!

Shown on an end table against an Antoinette wall, with coordinating Tacit curtains in French Linen.  Also shown with Greek Blue in a coastal bedroom, a bohemian kitchen cupboard, a school desk and as the base color of an origami star covered in Warm Gold Gilding Wax against a Coco wall.  The Venetian Plaster wall begins with a base in Old White, then increasing layers of thinly spread Duck Egg Blue, French Linen, Country Grey and Original to give texture. Gold Size and Brass Leaf is applied, then the whole wall Lacquered to preserve the effect.
